It would surely help his sleeping pattern if the manager could shake off his lingering relegation worries with the Whites not yet mathematically assured of safety.

It would take a monumental shift in the league table for eighth placed Distillery to slip through the trap door.

As unlikely a prospect as that is though, the boss is refusing to begin planning for next season until all is formally done and dusted.

“I just want to get that win because in football, it can all creep up on you if you take your eye off it,” he said. “We just need to get that win and then we can look forward.

“At the minute, we just don’t know where that win is coming from.”

The Whites have slumped to a run of four defeats in their last five league outings. They have two chances to get back to winning ways this week as they first host Harland and Wolff Welders at New Grosvenor on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) before travelling to face PSNI on Tuesday evening (kick-off 6.30pm).

If the Whites are to end the league season well, manager Kincaid says his strikers must improve their form in front of goal.

“When you look at the teams at the top of the division, they have big scorers,” he said. “The Welders, Ards, Bangor and Carrick all have strikers who score plenty of goals and that’s why they’re up at the top.

“It’s something that we have struggled with so hopefully over these next few weeks we can improve on it. We have had chances over the season to kill games off or draw level that we have missed.

“Our performance at Dergview on Saturday was the best we have put in in a long time but still we didn’t get anything out of the game. We should have come away with something so to travel away over there, play the way we did and come home empty handed was hard to take.

“All we can do is keep working as hard as we can to get the results. We’ll just take each game as it comes. When we played the Welders recently, we had chances to get something from the game but we didn’t take them. That’s the difference.”
