North West Junior Cup opener takes centre stage

Ardmore had a comfortable 3-1 win over Lincoln Courts at McCourt’s.

BBOB remain at the top even though they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Tullyally Colts, McCreadie was on the mark for the Old Boys while Cooke scored for the Colts.

Drummond and Foyle Wanders also ended 1-1, McCreadie for the Roesiders and Thompson for the Wanderers were the scorers.

The first round of the North West Junior Cup takes place on Saturday.

Foyle Wanderers v Lisahally

Premier versus First Division in this one. Wanderers although they have some good players have been a bit hit and miss so far and sit third from bottom in the table.

The visitors even at this early stage look certain to be playing Premiership football next season. They have currently won all of their five league fixtures, this could go to a penalty shoot out.

These two old rivals meet again in what is the tie of the round. Don Olphert’s side although still top of the Premier Division have drawn three of their seven games played and there are a couple of sides just below them who have a better win record.

Courts manager Kolyn Patterson needs to lift his side for this one as they are going through a sticky patch losing their last couple of games.

Ardmore v Caw

The home side are once again having an excellent season and manager Damien McGee has assembled a first class side and when at full strength they can beat anyone.

Caw conceded four last week and they must tighten things up at the back, their cause hasn’t been helped with so many managerial changes.

Draperstown Celtic v Claudy Rovers

The home side have won eight of their nine league games so far although that is in the Second division nevertheless they are always difficult to beat at home.

Claudy are playing with great confidence and manager Ryan McDaid has assembled a class side with ace striker James Boyd on fire.

Glendermott v Newbuildings United Reserves

The Waterside men have lost just the one league game so far and they are also doing well in the Irish Junior Cup. They have some quality players like Adrian Donaghey and Kyle Ross.

Newbuildings have been struggling all season and are currently second from bottom. Joint manager Glenn Wallace needs to get a few victories this might be one.

The Villagers are in mid table and they have lost a number of players from last season and are finding it difficult to replace them.

The Rugby Club had a good 4-1 win over Donemana Reserves last week. They have a settled side and they enjoy their football so this could be close.
