North West sides aiming for Irish Junior Cup glory

This Saturday sees games in the first round of the Irish Junior Cup and there are also two games in the Premier 
Division down for decision.

There are also some rearranged matches in both the First and Second Division taking place on Saturday.

BBOB v Annalong Swifts

The Old Boys manager Don Olphert would not have been pleased with his side’s defeat last week where they also finished the game with nine men. He will be looking for a big improvement in this one.

The visitors are unbeaten in their first four games in which they have scored 16 goals. A side not to be taken lightly.

Beragh Swifts v Irish Street

The Swifts have two potential match winners in Gary Dixon and Michael Brown who were both on the score sheet in their 3-3 draw last week. They will fancy their chances at home.

Irish Street were hammered 7-0 last week so this may be a case of keeping the score respectable.

Limavady Rugby Football Club v Armagh Rovers

The Roesiders got off to a winning start with a 5-2 away win at new club Kick Start where they had five players on the score sheet which augurs well for the season.

The visitors play in the competitive First Division of the Mid Ulster League. However they have lost three of their opening four games.

Lurgan United v Foyle Wanderers

The home side are in the Third Division of the Mid Ulster league which wouldn’t be a great standard but they do have home advantage which has to be a help,.

They did win against Hillsboro Boys last time out.

Wanderers are a quality side who showed that they are determined to retain their title.

Tthey will, however, be missing the talented David Scanlon who is on cricket duties but they should be good enough.

Taughmonagh YN v Claudy Rovers

The home side won their last game s 6-1 and they are reportedly a very attacking side who have good support so they will be confident of progressing.

Rovers got off to a losing start last Saturday but they didn’t play badly.

They have some excellent players in their line up and may make the next round.
