Northend United host Coerver coaching day

With the World Cup in full swing, the ambitious Northend Club have pulled off a major first for the town by announcing they are hosting a Coerver Coaching day at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday 28th June.

Coerver Coaching have recently been enrolled by the Irish FA to coach their Elite Development Squads and hold prestigious endorsements from Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson to name but a few.

The “Play it like the Stars” coaching session is open to all young players in the borough aged 5 to 14 and can be booked by Contacting Ally McGarry on 07779005441, where spaces are still available. The session will be taken by Austin Speight, Coerver Ireland’s representative. This takes place from 10.00am to 1.00pm and costs £20 which includes supply of a Coerver T-shirt

This is followed on Saturday afternoon with a Coerver Coaches training session and takes place from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.Again places are limited but can be booked by contacting Ally McGarry.

FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE AWARDS NIGHT

Northend United’s Football Development Centre came to an end on Friday night at the Showgrounds with its last session before a summer break.

This was immediately followed by the FDC Awards Night which was held in the Showgrounds Des Allen Suite, where the boys and girls in the FDC were joined by their parents for the Awards ceremony.

Northend’s Football Development Officer, John Devlin, spoke of the work of the FDC and how he hoped to see many of the young players’ progress to play in Northend’s U8 Development Squads next season. John also thanked a number of coaches who had helped him throughout the season, before going on to present each FDC player with a trophy.

Callum Swann and Lewis McDonald received the Overall Joint Player of the Year for the Development Centre.

Indeed it proved a great week for the Swann household with Callum’s uncle Niall Swann, captain of the U17 team, being voted Young Player of the Year in the BPIL Division 3 League for his performances throughout the season with Wakehurst Strollers. Indeed Niall has been a role model for all at Northend United Youth, progressing through the ranks from a very young age and now surely looking to cement a regular place with Wakehurst FC this season.

The FDC is planned to return again during September.

OPEN NIGHTS

Northend United are already planning for next season and are holding their Open Nights this week on Wednesday 18th June and Thursday 19th June at Eaton Park from 6.30 to 8.30pm each night.

The Junior Open Night for 2003s to 2006s will be held on Wednesday 18th June while the Senior Open Night for the 1999’s to 2002s will be held on Thursday 19th June.

All new players will be most welcome to the Club where the partnership with Wakehurst FC can allow each player to progress to play in Irish League football, dependent on their ability.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Northend United Youth FC AGM will be held tonight, Tuesday 17th June in the Michelin Club, commencing at 7.30pm sharp. All Club members are welcome to attend, where a report on last year will be displayed and plans for the incoming season will be discussed

U19 TEAM FOR 2014/15 SEASON

The U19 team is now up and running and the management team of Phil Hanlon and Mickey Tolan are looking forward to getting a number of friendly fixtures under their belt as the team prepares for a pre-season tournament.The team will play in the NIFL Youth League next season.
