Northend United Youth Fc round-up: Blues sides strike silver

THE week just ended was Knock-Out Cup Finals week in the Belfast and East Antrim Youth League and Northend were well represented with no fewer than three teams in the six different finals, with two of the teams eventually lifting the silverware.

Performance of the Week goes to Glen Speirs U15s who beat Southside Youths 3-0 in their Knock-Out Cup Final. In one of their best performances of the season the Northend Boys completed the BEAIYL League and Cup Double at U15 age group.

Elsewhere, the U11s lost their Knock-Out Cup Final 2-1 after extra time, against Irish League Academy side Carrick Rangers.

Mark Herbison’s U13s also turned in a super performance on Wednesday night to beat old nemesis Comber Rec 5-1 in their Knock-Out Cup Final.

The U14s also turned in a good performance on Saturday to beat Loughside 2-1 at their North Belfast base and Johnny Sayers U16s had a good 3-0 win over Irish League Academy side, Carrick Rangers in a dress rehearsal for their forthcoming Plate Final.

In the Coleraine and District League, The Baby Blues U9s lost to the older and bigger Limavady U10s 4-0

In the George Best Youth League, Danny Mitchell’s Wee Blues couldn’t reach the heights of last week and lost to Shankill Youths 5-0 at their Dunfane Park base in Ballymena.
