Northend United Youth Fc round-up: U-11s say ‘make ours a double’

AS the matches come thick and fast in the Belfast and East Antrim League, its been an outstanding week for Northend’s young guns, the U11s, when they not only won the Shield Competition on Monday night with an understrength team but on Saturday they turned in a great team performance, drawing with Irish League Academy Youth Side, Carrick Rangers, to win the Belfast and East Antrim Youth League title.

Sandwiched in between these two matches, The U11s gave Ballyclare Comrades a 5-0 drubbing on Wednesday night.

Manager Paul Lecky stated: “It’s been a long hard season for the Boys and they learnt a hard lesson in the Knock-Out Cup Final, losing in extra time.

Performance of the Week goes to Stevie Turner’s U13s who beat Comber Rec, in the Belfast and East Antrim Shield semi-final to reach the final against Newington, to be played next week.

The U15s finished off their season on Monday night with an emphatic 3-1 win over their Derby rivals Southside Youths in the last League match of the season, which left them winning the League by an eight point margin over second placed team, Larne Youths.

In the George Best Youth League, Danny Mitchell’s Wee Blues finished off their season with a creditable 2-2 draw with Sirocco Youths at the Grove Pitches in Belfast.
