Northend’s cross-community work gets royal seal of approval

Northend United Youth FC’s ongoing cross-community work in the Ballymena area has been given the royal seal of approval!

The club was honoured this week to receive a substantial cheque for club funds from the Duchess of Gloucester, who is the patron of the Hope for Youth charity.

Club Chairperson, Johnny Sayers and coach Evan Sayers were guests of the Hope for Youth charity, at a function held in Hillsborough Castle where her Royal Highness mingled with the guests at the reception.

The cheque is in recognition of the innovative work the Club is doing in cross community development.

Northend would like to express their thanks to the Duchess and the Hope for Youth charity for the presentation and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship.

HOLIDAY BREAK

All of the teams took a well earned break this week over the Easter holiday period but the Lisburn League teams are back in action on Wednesday night when the U13s, U14s and U16s play TW Braga, Lisburn Distillery and Ridgeway Rovers respectively.

The Club’s younger teams get back to action next weekend with the resumption of the North West and Coleraine District League and the U10s, U11s and U12s will be looking for a few good results in the run-in to the end of their season.

With the Club fielding six teams at the Irish FA organised U8 and U9 small sided games at the Showgrounds, they are all looking forward to getting back into action on Friday 17th April for the U8s and Saturday 18th April for the U9s

TALENT DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

The Northend Talent Development Centre which uses Coerver Coaching techniques, takes a break this week on Wednesday 8th April but resumes again on Wednesday 15th April at the Broughshane MUGA.

The Talent Development Centre is open to all boys and girls aged from 7 to 16, and takes from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

A number of the Club’s younger players competed in the annual Easter Larne Soccer Sevens competition yesterday (Monday), with Northend having no less than five teams registered for the competition.

AWARDS NIGHTS

With the season drawing to a close, an important date for your diary is the end-of-season Northend United Youth FC Awards Nights. The Junior Awards Night for the U8s, U9s, U10s and U11s will be held on Wednesday 27th May at the Michelin Club.

The Senior Awards Night for the U12s, U13s, U14s, U15s and U16s will also be held at the Michelin Club on Thursday 28th May.

These nights are a highlight in the Northend social calendar and last year, well over 500 parents and friends attended the events.
