Bobby Burns looking forward to Barrow challenge

The former Glenavon defender had recently been on loan with Newcastle Jets in Australia’s A-League making 16 appearances and providing one assist as he impressed fans at the McDonald Jones Stadium.

Barrow won promotion to League Two from the National League on a points-per-game game basis but led the table by four points when football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Burns becomes new bosss David Dunn’s seventh summer signing and he is looking forward to the challenge.

“After speaking to the manager I was very impressed by the club’s project and where they are aiming to go,” he told irishfa.com.

“Naturally I’m very excited to be going to England and joining the best football pyramid in the world.”

Meanwhile, Paul O’Neill who scored for Glentoran in last week’s Irish Cup final win is being linked with a move to Blackpool or Oxford United.
