Chloe McCarron leaves Birmingham City 'for personal reasons'

Chloe McCarron has cited "personal reasons" for ending her stint at Birmingham City.

The Northern Ireland international, who joined Birmingham from Linfield last August, confirmed her decision in a statement released by the Women's Super League.

The statement said the midfielder "is remaining in her home country for personal reasons" with her contract being "mutually terminated".

"Everyone at Birmingham City would like to thank Chloe for her efforts," added the club statement.

McCarron, who recently helped Northern Ireland qualify for Euro 2022, made 12 appearances for Carla Ward's Birmingham side, including 10 in the WSL.

The 23-year-old's decision to remain at home could see her sign for an Irish Women's Premiership club with her former club Linfield being linked with a move.

Three of her Northern Ireland internationals, Louise McDaniel and sisters Kirsty and Caitlin McGuinness, have already signed for Cliftonville.

The McGuinness sisters join from Sion Swifts while McDaniel returns to the Irish League after a spell with Hearts.
