Jamie Glackin and Ben Doherty have signed new deals in the past, and now Carson follows suit putting pen-to-paper on a two-year contract extension that ties him down until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney spoke of his delight at tying the 27-year-old down to a new deal.

“I’m delighted for Josh as he is one of the best fellas you could work with and I’m really looking forward to seeing him push on in the next few years,” he told the club website.

“He brings a high level of quality and different attributes that really helps us and he’s been a massive part of our success in recent years.

“Josh has gone into left-back in recent games and he’s played there like he’s been a full-back all of his career and it’s a testament as you don’t get players who are that versatile.

“He is a popular member of the changing room and we are all pleased he is staying.”
