Odhran and Isaac smash superb second half strikes to see off Rosario

The first half saw Dromore dominate the game and they had the bulk of the chances to open the scoring.

Michael McCavitt and Odhran Crozier just didn’t get the rub of the green after great build up play from Rowan Taylor, Matty Brush, Sam Stewart and Dylan Hickey.

At the other end, Dromore scarcely looked like conceding and so the first half ended 0-0.

The second half was a great advert for youth football with both teams putting on some good attacking play and thrilling the on-lookers.

It took Dromore U15s’ rearguard of Isaac Black, James Howard, Ben Scott and Jamie Gregg to be on their games to thwart any chances for Rosario.

On the occasions Rosario did manage to get past such a stern back line and get a shot away, it was superbly saved by Callum Walker, the goalkeeper who had an immense game between the sticks, commanding his box with a very strong presence.

Midway through the second half, Dromore opened the scoring when Odhran Crozier outpaced the defenders and raced around the Rosario keeper to roll the ball into the open goal.

The game was now ebbing both ways and the next goal was always going to be crucial to the outcome.

The hero on the day was Isaac Black who popped up with Dromore’s second goal after a determined run from right back saw him through one on one with the keeper and he got past a strong challenge to fire the ball into the net to the delight of all the parents and coaches.

There were so many impressive individual performances throughout the team and this was such a well deserved win that the Coaches couldn’t single anyone out in particular for the Man of the match award.

The defence stood tall when the going got tough, the midfielders did double the work and created so many chances for the forwards who were creating havoc and more importantly the contribution from the kids that came on as subs ensured that this was going to be Dromore’s day.
