old boys pull on their boots again

Banbridge Youth Club Old Boys are back in action once again after Trevor Anderson and Willie Cull left Banbridge AFC.

AFC had been formed out of the old Youth Club team in the 1990s but Willie and Trevor have gone back to their roots once again and have begun a search for players.

“Up until recently we had really enjoyed our time at AFC but we decided to leave our positions at the end of last season and reform the Old Boys,” said Willie.

“We’ll be playing our football in Division Two of the Newcastle League. We had looked at the possibility of playing in a couple of league but when we met Bobby Reid, the Chairman of the league, he welcomed us with open arms.”

TRAINING

The club began training only last week and with the season getting underway on September 7 the search is on for some new players.

“We’ve got a number of friendlies lined up already, including a game against Damolly on Saturday and on August 17 against Dromore Amateurs,” Willie added.

“Anyone who wants to have a look at us or who wants to play is more than welcome to come down and watch. Alternatively you can give call me on 07803470547 or Noel Peters, our manager, on 07706012323.

The club would like to thank Manhattan Hair and Beauty in Lurgan, O’Reilly’s bar in Banbridge and the Bannville for their sponsorship for the season.
