O’Neill keeping tabs on trio

NORTHERN Ireland manager Michael O’Neill visited the Brandywell on Monday night and admitted the likes of Derry City trio Gerard Doherty, David McDaid and Patrick McEleney were just some of the players he was keeping an eye on, during the Setanta Sports Cup encounter against Shamrock Rovers.

The former Rovers boss, who saw his old side defeat City 2-0 spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin during half-time of last night’s encounter.

Despite the 2-0 defeat the Candy Stripes did book their place in the final, winning the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Declan Devine’s side will now face Irish League side Crusaders, in the May 12th final, which will take place at Windsor Park.
