With players cup-tied, there were three changes from the Loughgall game. It was a big test for the Reds but they passed it with flying colours.

The defence were outstanding with Stuart McMullan, who got the opener, rightly named Man of the Match alongside his player of the month award.

All the players played their part especially when they were under the cosh midway through the second half.

It bodes well for the rest of the season, especially as the team looks settled again and they won without any of the top three marksmen getting on the scoresheet.

Next up for Larne is a home league game against Dergview on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.

Meanwhile, the club is hosting a fund-raising dinner on Saturday, March 12 at Inver Park. Guest speakers on the night are ex-Linfield boss David Jeffrey and News Letter columnist, Liam Beckett. To reserve tickets contact the club’s chairman, Archie Smyth, on 07960888359.
