Oran at the double to secure win

Lurgan started well and started to get the ball into wide areas with Sam Tuxworth finding Ryan Finlay on the right and Ryan was causing all sorts of problems for Institute.

Chances were coming for Lurgan but the boys were failing to find the net with Oran McGuckin hitting the woodwork twice and Zach Annett going close on two occasions. At this stage young Ryan bundled into a post and had to come off injured this upset the rhythm and flow in the team for a while.

After this the boys started to make bad decisions on the pitch with passes going astray and this must be improved at this level.

Lurgan were then hit with a rare Institute attack and with four Lurgan players failing to clear the danger and make a tackle a good strike from the Institute striker gave them the lead at half time.

Lurgan came out the second half and knew that they must improve in front of goal to turn the game round and with Chris Mallett showing some good touches and vision it looked only a matter of time before the goal came and shortly after it did with Oran firing home to level the game.

Institute had a couple of chances on the break as Lurgan pushed for the winner but then with 10 minutes to go Ryan crossed for Oran to volley home after some super work by Jordon Brown leading up to the goal.

A more defensive shape was installed to see out the win although Chris went close again towards the end. The boys will know they can play better especially in the final third of the pitch and while Oran will get credit for his two goals special mention also goes to Ryan Finlay, Jordon Brown and man of the day Declan O’Neill picked out by the referee.
