McEneff, who has been playing regularly for Tottenham Hotspur’s Under 21 side, will be delighted to have been given a call-up by Stephen Craigan.

This will be the ex-Northern Ireland and Motherwell centre-back’s first real taste of management.

Although he was part of the Northern Ireland Elite Milk Cup back-room team, Craigan was Stephen Robinson’s right hand man during that competition.

Another local teenager in the squad is Derry City’s talented winger Josh Tracey.

A tug-o’-war could well develop for one the young player who still hasn’t made his competitive Airtricity League debut.

The St Brigid’s College pupil, is part of the Under-19 panel despite the fact that he’s aged just 16.

The winger, who has appeared on the substitutes’ bench in recent matches for Declan Devine’s side as he continues to develop well under John Quigg and Eddie Seydak’s tutorship in the Candystripes reserve team, will join Craigan’s side which travels to Austria for a friendly fixture next Wednesday.

The former Top of the Hill Derry & District Youth player has already represented the Northern Ireland Under-17 squad and it’s understood that former Derry City winger, Tom Mohan, the manager of the Republic of Ireland Under-17’s was highly impressed when watching the Galliagh lad perform in previous international fixtures.

Tracey will clearly be the youngest player in the squad, but his elevation to this level given his age is considered hugely significant.
