Peacocks share the spoils

IT was stalemate in the under 12 national league derby between Bertie Peacocks Youths and Coleraine.

In a tense game at the University the two teams cancelled each other out as there was very few chances for ether side. Peacocks had a fair idea Coleraine would be up for the game looking to gain revenge for a early defeat to Berties a few weeks ago.

Berties looked the sharper of the two sides in the early stages but as the game continued the sides were well matched with both defences being kept on their toes.

In the second period of the game Berties started to look dangerous getting in behind the Coleraine defence which led to a couple of great penalty claims, one of them a stonewall cert but to the utter disbelieve of the Peacock support the referee thought other wise.

Coleraine were always dangerous as they had a number of attempts from distance to which Berties keeper dealt with easily. In the last ten minutes of the game Berties’ Caleb Wan had the ball in the net, but once again the ref judged it to be offside when he clearly was on.

They say these type of decisions even themselves up over the season and all at Berties hope that will be the case. The game finished 0-0 and was a good advert for local football at under 12 so well done to both teams.
