Phillips scores twice as Islandmagee sink struggling Dromara

It was Stephen Donald’s side’s fourth league win of the season and the result lifts them to up to 10th spot.

The visitors started brightly and had a handful of chances when Stuart Hilditch, making his return to the club, flashed a few efforts wide.

The Islanders went one up when Halliday’s long free-kick was allowed to bounce and the instinctive Ryan Kane nipped round to score with a header.

Dromara missed a good opportunity to draw level just before the interval but theWilbourne Park outfit were worth their one-goal lead.

The East Antrim men doubled their advantage five minutes into the second session when a corner was cleared only as far as former Larne winger Gary Workman, who whipped the ball into the far top corner from round 25 yards.

Despite Islandmagee’s dominance, Dromara pulled one back on 65 minutes when the referee pointed to the spot, adjudging Andrew Phillips to have handled the ball in the box.

Island regrouped and pushed for another to seal all three points. They got their reward 15 minutes from time when Phillips redeemed himself for the penalty by heading home Andy Waide’s inviting free-kick. A couple of minutes later, Phillips was at it again, notching his second of the afternoon with a volley after Dromara had failed to clear.
