Michelle Friel and Alison Nicholl controlled the midfield. Nicholl should have equalised, but quick reactions from the Derry keeper resulted in a Coleraine corner.

Forwards Dunn and Steen worked hard closing down the Derry City defence. Alison Nicholl saw her effort go over the bar and Steen had an effort saved.

The determination of the Coleraine side finally paid off when they were awarded a corner. Friel whipped in a fine ball which Nicole Kerr poked home to claim Coleraine’s first goal of the new season.
