Primary school kids learn important lessons

LOCAL primary schools enjoyed a six-a-side football bonanza last week.

The event was hosted by the Community Safety Branch of Ballymena PSNI in partnership with Sainsburys, Michelin Tyres and Carniny Youth FC to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage sport as an alternative to anti social behaviour.

Most Primary Schools within the Borough took part and all participating children received a medal as a momento of the occasion as well as fruit sponsored by Sainsburys and promotional items from Carniny Youth and Ballymena Borough Council.

The event was a great success with the Mayor of Ballymena, Councillor James Currie MBE and former Ballymena United manager Jim Hagan making an appearance.

Organising the event was Constables O'Flaherty and Adams whilst referees for the festival were messrs Galbraith and Sexton while displays were provided by PSNI, NI Fire and Rescue Service and St Johns Ambulance.

A good couple of days’ fun was had by all with hopefully good advice taken by all concerned which may benefit them in future years.
