And Mr. Hilditch maintained the club is still keen to implement improvements to its home ground.

“We are very thankful to be back ... but it’s very much a process which is ongoing and will continue to be so for a considerable time to come,” he said.

“We are scouring the country high and low for pots of gold which will enable us to realise our ambitions with regard to improving the ground and we would certainly welcome any help in this direction.

“Like all the other clubs, we are still awaiting the money that has been promised after the development of Windsor Park, but I would hazard a guess this could be as far as two years away.

“But that won’t stop the off-the-field progress that is being made, currently with regard to the electrics such as lighting in the stand and the PA system. And there’s the dressing rooms improvement, which are temporary, while we hope to have new floodlighting in place by September.

He added: “Much of the work is being done by the dedicated group of volunteers known as the Spirit of ‘76 group, who are grafting tirelessly on the refurbishment and have been for quite a long time.

“They deserve the utmost praise and I am sure anyone who can spare a bit of time to offer any help would not be turned away.”
