Rangers gear up for Irish Cup test with Coleraine

CARRICK Rangers have made no bones about the fact that winning the IFA Championship league title is their stated objective this season, but Saturday’s clash with Coleraine in the JJB Sports Irish Cup is probably their biggest test of the season to date.

All eyes will be on Taylor’s Avenue in anticipation of a giant-killing act but, so far at least, there’s no sign of Stephen Small’s team suffering as a result of being in the limelight.

On Saturday it was very much business as usual and, with hat-trick hero Anto Lagan (pictured) again in a starring role as the man who applied the finishing touches see off Bangor, the three points gained has consolidated Carrick’s position at the top of the Championship 1 table.

If Rangers are to overcome the Bannsiders they will have to do it without hot-shot Lagan who is away on a holiday which keeps him out of the action for the next three weeks.

Carrick Rangers v Coleraine FC: JJB Sports Irish Cup Round Six, Taylor’s Avenue, Saturday (Feb 12), Kick-off: 3pm.
