Banbridge Town members rejected their request to use Town’s changing facilities at a meeting last Tuesday but now Rangers have called a meeting with IFA officials in a bid to use changing facilities at Cheney Park while playing at Crystal Park.

“We have been talking to the council and will meet with the IFA in the next week to 10 days to see what avenues we can explore,” confirmed Rangers chairman John Patterson.

Under Mid-Ulster Intermediate A league rules, the Cheney Park facilities are too far away from the playing surface.

“That’s what the league have said but there are grounds that have intermediate status where the changing facilities are at least as far, if not further from the pitch.

“The players want to play on grass.”

Town’s members rejected the proposal in favour of using the facilities for the club’s three senior sides; Banbridge Town, Banbridge Town AFC and Banbridge Town AFC Reserves.

The club had a previous agreement with Moneyslane to share the facilities at Crystal Park but, since that and the initial meeting with Banbridge Rangers, their amalgamation with Banbridge AFC was completed, increasing the number of teams using the facilities.

Meanwhile, striker Duncan Stoddart has signed for Banbridge Town.

He has played for Lisburn Distillery and Coagh United but was most recently with fellow Championship Two side Dollingstown.
