Rangers swoop for Hutchinson

CARRICK Rangers have swooped to sign one of the IFA Championship’s brightest young talents, Ballinamallard’s 21-year-old Grant Hutchinson – and manager Stephen Small has high hopes for the UUJ student as he continues with the task of strengthening his team for the IFA Premiership.

Last week the deal was completed to bring Paul Owens on board from Limavady United and that, coupled with the recruitment of Hutchinson, has meant a couple more players have regrettably gone through the departure door, Nathan McConnell and Gary Rafferty.

“Ballinamallard have been very good in the way this deal was handled. We wrote a letter seeking permission to speak to the player, this was granted and the end product is that he’s joined us for a year,” said Small.

“I have seen Grant playing quite a few times and he is terrific at ball retention. He likes to win possession, get the ball down and play football the right way, and I think he will be a great asset for Carrick Rangers.”
