Record breakers!

LISBURN Distillery smashed four club records during the club’s 9-0 thumping of Coagh United on Tuesday night.

And Whites boss Tim McCann said he believed the big win had been coming for a while.

First Jordan Hughes opened the scoring with the fastest ever goal at New Grosvenor after 22 seconds.

Then Gary Liggett bagged four goals in the rout , reaching 50 after 101 games for the club since joining from Glenavon in 2010.

And the 9-0 scoreline saw the most goals ever scored in a game at New Grosvenor.

“It’s been on the cards,” said McCann, who was still on cloud nine when he spoke to the Star.

“We’ve been creating so many chances over the last few weeks but we were just unable to put them away.

“You can see the difference in the team already and there was a completely different outlook amongst the boys immediately after the game.

“There was a brilliant atmosphere in the changing room after the win and hopefully this is the turning point for us.. We need to bring this form into the league.”

And up next for the Whites are Donegal Celtic, who inflicted a 1-0 defeat on McCann’s men in the County Antrim Shield at the start of the month.

“What a difference a week makes!” he said.

But despite winning the team which won on Tuesday night will still have to prove themselves to be considered for selection for Saturday’s league fixture (Suffolk Road, 3pm)

“We have a full squad to pick from, which is good from my point of view.

“But nobody is guaranteed of their place. I get a report on each team which I wil examine and look at their weaknesses.

“If I feel there is a change we can make which will benefit the team then I’ll make it.

“Hopefully this will be the start of a winning streak and we can string a few results together.
