Ref got red card right admits boss

GARY Hamilton has apologised to referee Arnold Hunter after admitting that Robbie McDaid’s sending off on Saturday was the correct decision.

After the game, Hamilton had been incensed at the red card, claiming that it was a “shocking” decision and also saying that McDaid had done “nothing wrong.”

However, having watching the match highlights after the game, Hamilton retracted his comments and said that Hunter had, in fact, made the right decision in sending off the young substitute.

He said: “I’ve tried to get in contact with Arnold Hunter to apologise to him. I’m honest enough to hold my hands up whenever I’ve got something wrong. At the time, most people in the ground didn’t think it was a sending off and it didn’t look as bad as it did in the highlights.

“After watching it again, it was a sending off. The correct decision was made – there’s no two ways about that. I’m going to make sure I get in touch with Arnold Hunter and apologise.

“Robbie McDaid’s enthusiasm got the better of him but these things happen when you are 16. He’s only a young lad and he’ll learn from his mistakes. There’ll not be too much done or said about it.”
