Reserves win

THE Reserves got back to winning ways in the league on Saturday after coming out on top of a six goal thriller at Havelock Park against Hanover.

Both teams struggled to create any clear cut chances in the first half, resulting in a half time score of 0-0.

However, the Village came out for the second half, like a different side. They started playing at a high tempo and starting to create chances. On the hour mark, Steven Campbell got on the end of a Cliffy Sands cross, to put Seapatrick in the lead. Five minutes later this lead was doubled, when Scott Bradman calmly finished when one on one with the keeper.

Hanover got the all important next goal to pull the score back to 2-1. Shay McDonnell was then introduced and made an immediate impact, providing a cross from the right hand side, which Scott Bradman finished to double his tally and restore Seapatrick’s two goal cushion. However, this cushion was short lived when Ross ‘Tiny’ Martin, was harshly judged to have fouled in the box, and Hanover scored the resulting penalty.

With 10 minutes to go, Shay McDonnell got his name on the score sheet, knocking the ball in from a yard out at the back post after a teasing Mark Myles cross. This completed the flurry of second half goals and got the Reserves back to winning ways. The Reserves are at home again next weekend against Cookstown Olympic in the Mid Ulster Shield. Congratulations to Ross Martin who won the ‘Reserve Team Player of the Month’.
