Rodgers signs long-term contract with Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool.

News that the Carnlough man is to extend his stay at Anfield was revealed on the club’s website on Monday (May 26).

“I am very happy to build on the foundations we have built over the last two years and now we move onto the next phase which I believe will be as exciting, challenging and rewarding,” Rodgers told liverpoolfc.com.

Earlier this month he was named League Managers’ Association manager of the year.

The 41-year-old steered Liverpool to second in the Premier League and a place in next season’s Champions League. After one of the closest title races in years, Rodgers’ Reds finished just two points behind winners Manchester City.

He took over the Merseyside giants in June 2012 after guiding Swansea City to 13th place.
