Lincoln Courts Res...2

Roe Rovers Reserves needed to rectify last weeks defeat to bottom side Artigarvan, when they hosted second from bottom Lincoln Courts, but it was a similar story.

Lincoln Courts Reserves played their hearts out and thoroughly deserved a point at Scroggy Road. From a corner a good flick on and a tidy back heel from young Ryan McIntosh and Lincoln had taken an early lead.

Rovers got back into the game when man of the match Fergus Irwin powerfully headed a corner from Mark Rafferty in to the roof of the net. Lincoln however were more than a match for Rovers and in Johnny Adams they had a playmaker who put most of the rest of the players to shame with his close ball control, good first touch and range of passes.

It was Adams who gained the lead again for Lincoln when Ruari O’Brien made an uncharacteristic error. Sliding onto the ball he played it with his cheek into the path of Adams who coolly chipped it into the empty net.

Rovers huffed and puffed and shot from long range but never really created enough clear chances. Rafferty and Martin McCauley did well on the left and Rafferty’s low cross was hooked home by Dan Maude to again level and Rovers pressed on from here looking the winner but their efforts in the last 20 minutes were more than matched by Lincoln’s defensive commitment.

The very impressive Graham Lland and Glenn McIntosh organised the young heads around them and defended stoutly and more than threatened on the counter with the young Robbie House but neither team seized the full points and a draw was probably a fair result in the end.
