Ruairi to the ‘four’ as Blues under-13s produce five-star performance

The other two teams in the Lisburn league, the U11s and U14s had less luck, losing to TW Braga and Windmill United from Newry, respectively.

In the National League, the U17s travelled to Limavady United on Friday night and lost by the odd goal in three, while the U15s lost 3-1 to a good Derry Colts team

In the North West and Coleraine District League, the teams continue to have a mixed bag iof results.

Institute 0, Northend 1: In the first game of a three-team tournament, Northend claimed victory thanks to a Callum Hendron goal. MOM - Pearse McAuley.

Carniny Amateurs 5, Northend 1: Despite a fantastic curling shot from Jack Adams, Northend were 2-1 behind at the break and conceded three more in the second half.

Roe Valley 3, Northend 2: Northend were unlucky early on as Harry Wylie twice struck the crossbar with efforts before Roe Valley scored twice.

The hard-working Pat Ferris pulled one back but Roe Vallye scored against the run of play to lead 3-1 at the break.

Callum Kilgore cut the deficit to one goal in the second half but Northend could not force an equaliser. MOM - Harry Wylie.

Northend 0, TW Braga 6: Northend had a full squad at their disposal for the first time in a number of weeks but the recurring frailties which have become all too common this season ensured an all too familiar result.

Northend 5, Moira 0: After a scoreless first half, the introduction of Ruairi Campbell and Conall Gordon at half-time changed the match for Northend, who have now won three of their four matches this season.

Derry Colts 3, Northend 1: Within two minutes Derry had taken the lead when non existent tackling or defending let the striker through to put the ball past Elliott in goals.

Fifteen minutes into the half and Northend equalized when Dennison played the ball to Boyle, he controlled and clipped the ball over the defence and Herbison was

quick enough to nip in between the two defenders, hold them off, and slip the ball past the keeper.

Northend where getting the upper hand now and Herbison had another shot from the edge of the box but the ball went over the bar and McCann linked up well with Herbison but his shot whizzed past the post.

With seven minutes remaining, Derry regained the lead from a disputed free kick and in the last minute and with Northend chasing the game Derry broke away to score their third.

Limavady United 2, Wakehurst 1: AFter losing Jamie Spiers to injury, Wakehurst fell behind when a poor clearance was lashed past Ryan Gault.

The Ballymena side conceded a second goal aftet the break despite Wakehurst’s appeals for offside.

Wakehurst pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining when McCollum struck another rasper of a free-kick which hit the back of the net with the Limavady keeper well beaten.
