Banbridge lad Adam Salley played the second half as Northern Ireland U19s began their European Championships qualifiers with a win on Thursday.

The boys in green secured a 2-1 win over Norway.

Linfield forward Salley will hope to get more game-time on Friday when they face hosts Russia. They complete the Qualifying Round against Slovakia on Sunday as they aim to make it through to the Elite Round of the qualifying campaign.

Just eight teams will contest next year’s finals, which double up as the qualifiers for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
