A SCINTILLATING Scarva Rangers Reserves side hit their hosts for six at Gordon Playing Fields in Lurgan on Saturday.

There were just two minutes on the clock when Rangers forged ahead. Ryan Dodds latched on to a long kick out from goalkeeper Gordon Magill and slotted his shot clinically past the home keeper.

Lurgan United Reserves equalised with a curling shot from the edge of the penalty area but Noel Hamilton carved the home defence apart with a ball over the top and Ryan Dodds struck for a second time in the game.

The home goalkeeper could only punch an inswinging Nathan Dodds corner into the path of Ryan Dodds and the Scarva player drilled the ball into the net to clinch a devastating first half hat-trick.

A dramatic first half yielded two further goals for the home side to leave the game all square at the interval.

Lurgan United Reserves struck the Scarva crossbar from the restart but Scarva re-established their lead when Ryan Dodds drifted past two players on the left wing and crossed for Noel Hamilton to finish from close range.

The visitors stretched their lead to two goals from the penalty spot after the home side were penalised for a hand ball and the points were emphatically wrapped up when Nathan Dodds skipped past two players inside the penalty area and unleashed a venomous strike that screeched into the back of the United net.

Best for Scarva Rangers Reserves was hat-trick hero Ryan Dodds.

It was a day for Scarva’s first team to forget, as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Moneyslane.

The club would like to thank Jim Patton for his generous sponsorship.
