Schools compete in Whistle Project

The annual Whistle Project has hosted the annual cross community Primary and Secondary School Cups.

The games were played out at the outdoor astro-turf pitch at Top of the Hill.

The first day saw six Secondary Schools battle it out. The final, which was between College B and St Josephs A, didn’t disappoint spectators in terms of the level of excitement involved.

This thrilling match went to the wire with penalties deciding the outcome, and St Joseph’s eventually winning the Cup and Sports voucher for their school.

Player of the Tournament went to Ryan Doran from the College and the Penalty King was Caolan Mc Brearty from St Josephs.

The Primary School Cup saw eight teams compete in a very tight tournament.

Again this very exciting competition had to be decided by penalties, between Ebrington and St Pauls. St Pauls held their nerve and won the cup and sports voucher for their school.

Player of the Tournament went to Maddy Rowe from Ebrington and the Penalty King was Lorcan Deeney from Chapel Road.

Both days were made even better by the fantastic weather and the organisers have thanked all the schools for permitting their staff and pupils to take part in these annual cross community tournaments.
