Seaview surface will suit Carrick, says Harmon

Harmon, who netted a dramatic late winner when the two sides last met at Inver Park, knows it will be a stern test against an Inver Reds outfit who have lost just once since new boss Davy McAlinden took over. “We are looking forward to playing at Seaview,” he said. “We think the surface there will suit us because we like to get it down and play a bit. Hopefully we can get three points but I know it’s going to be a tough game. It was definitely tough the last time and Larne are going in to it coming off the back of a good win against Institute. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up and push on.

“There’s always a good atmosphere with the two sets of fans; that drives you on more when you’re on the pitch.”

After opening the scoring with a beautifully-struck goal, Harmon couldn’t hide his disappointment after a last-gasp David Wright equaliser denied them a win against Distillery on Saturday.

“We thought we had the game won, so we are just absolutely gutted. All the boys are disappointed that we couldn’t see the game out,” he said,

“I was just waiting on the referee to blow the (final) whistle and it’s hard to take in the last 30 seconds of the game.

“We went down to 10 men I knew we were getting stretched a bit but I thought we would have seen it out. But that’s just football. It happens.”

Harmon’s goal oozed class but it was a case of third time lucky for the dynamic midfielder.

“I hit the post with the first chance and the keeper made a good save with the second one. For the goal I think it just came to me on the edge of the box, I took a touch to get past a man and I just drilled it. Thankfully, I saw it hitting the bottom corner.

“Obviously you take it on board yourself that if you get a chance to shoot you do it, I’m just glad it went in.”

He added: “We are disappointed that we couldn’t capitalise on the fact that results went our way elsewhere. Dundela were beaten, as were Institute. You can say it’s a point gained but we are still very disappointed.”
