Seventh heaven for Hezlett girls

TWELVE schools participated in this year’s Coleraine High School Primary Schools’ Soccer Sevens tournament, an event that has become a firm favourite with local schools.

Organisers were delighted to welcome Hezlett, Gorran, Ballymoney Model, Leaney, Bushvalley, Harpur’s Hill, Castleroe and Ballytober, Dunseverick, Kilmoyle, Portstewart and Portrush.

The teams played a series of competitive fixtures in a round robin format with the top four teams proceeding to the semi finals. These games saw narrow victories for Hezlett and Harpur’s Hill, against Ballytober and Portstewart respectively.

The top two teams met in the final, with a goal from the penalty spot securing the victory for Hezlett.

The top goalscorer was Kathryn Lyttle from Hezlett Primary School.

High School Principal, Mrs Anne Bell presented the medals, saying that she was delighted with the level of participation and hoped to see many of the girls gracing the pitches in the future in a High School kit.

All those who participated had a very enjoyable day and thanked the High School for organising the event which has become a highlight of the summer calendar.
