Talented teenager Michael Duffy was City’s match winner, firing home in super fashion just after the hour mark, after Rory Patterson had created the chance.

The Brandywell men particularly in the first half could and would have been a few goals down but for some poor finishing and good goalkeeping by Gerard Doherty, kept the score-sheet blank at half-time.

City themselves had chances in the opening 45 minutes with Duffy heading just wide and also hitting the woodwork with a curling effort.
