Shock cost of putting on game

GLENAVON’S match fees for their last home game against Linfield totted up to over a staggering £1,200.

The all-ticket game attracted a healthy crowd but much of that income was eaten up by fees for match officials, security, first aid and ticket printing.

The four officials, as in every other home league game, cost Glenavon a colossal £470 while private security, which had to be hired due to health and safety restrictions, set the club back a further £300.

On top of that, the price of printing match tickets came to £315 while the club also had to shell out £150 for first-aiders, which are also required by health and safety regulations.

With clubs struggling to make ends meet, as shown by Newry City who were recently wound up, the costs are unwelcome hindrances, making their jobs even more difficult.
