Sides look for Irish Cup Junior glory

THERE were four Premier league fixtures scheduled for last Saturday: however the game between Lincoln Courts and City Colts was abandoned after one of the Courts players sustained a serious knee injury, the Colts were leading at the time 1-0.

Tullyally Colts did what no one else has been able to do this season and that was take a point off leaders BBOB, the game finishing scoreless.

Ardmore continued their good form with a 2-0 home win over Newbuildings United Reserves, Caw are still searching for their first win after losing by the odd goal of three against Eglinton.

While Ballykelly booked their place in the semi-final of the Sentinel Cup, after defeating Drummond United 1-0, on Saturday.

The Coca Cola Irish Junior Cup takes centre stage this Saturday with nine local sides involved.

Woodvale v Donemana

The Belfast men play in the competitive Amateur League Division Two and they were in good form last Saturday where they won away from home 6-1, they will be favourites to progress with home advantage.

Donemana won’t lack in fighting spirit and will as always give one hundred per cent and they will have a few travelling supporters but that might not be enough.

Prediction: Woodvale.

Greencastle Rovers v Ardmore

Not a lot is known about the home side but Ardmore gaffer Damien McGee will make sure that his side won’t be complacent they are on a winning run and that may continue.

McGee’s side had another impressive win in the league on Saturday, defeating Newbuildings United Reserves 2-0, at McCourt’s.

Prediction: Ardmore.

Grange Rovers v Tullyally Colts

The Colts almost ended BBOB’s winning run last week, they showed in that game that they are a match for anyone in the Division.

Rovers are reportedly to be a big physical side who rely a lot on the long ball tactic, this could suit the visitors who like to knock it about.

Caw v Lisanally Rangers Reserves

Caw took the lead in their game with Eglinton last Saturday but then conceded two, they have still to taste victory this season but they still remain upbeat.

Their opponents ply their trade in the Mid Ulster Reserve league Division Two and they go into this tie on the back of a 9-1 win last week, however could this be Caws first victory.

Prediction: Caw.

BBOB v Enniskillen Town United

Manager Don Olphert can be well pleased with the start the Old Boys have made still unbeaten, it has been a while since they had a good run in this competition and the draw has been kind.

The Fermanagh men are a well established side who play in the Fermanagh and Western league, they also have a decent record in this cup, this could be tight but the Old Boys are the selection.

Tobermore United Reserves v Limavady Rugby Club

Tobermore play in the Ballymena Division One league which has a number of excellent sides, they had a 1-0 win last week and are well placed in the table.

The Roesiders are a closely knit side with most of their players from the Limavady area, they are still finding their feet in Saturday afternoon football.

Eglinton v Dergview Reserves

Eglinton manager Sean Hargan knows his side are capable of going far in this competition, they have played well on a couple of occasions this season but they can improve.

The visitors are in the top Division of the Fermanagh and Western league although they haven’t been setting the place alight, they lost 4-1 last Saturday, however they may still be strong enough to progress.
