The young up and coming boss is wanting his players to bounce back from their first defeat of the season.

“One word to describe my boys’ performance is proud, I’m very proud,” insisted Simpson.

“Institute are an excellent side, they move the ball about very, very well but I’m proud of all my players, from the players who started to the five subs, everyone of them put in a shift on Friday night and they are an absolute credit to the club.

“Getting defeated 2-1 at ’Stute’s own ground I don’t think we can be too disappointed about that, we are an intermediate side and we are looking to go higher and I think Paul (Kee) and his coaching staff were saying after the match that some teams in their league might come and struggle to put in a performance, which we did against them.”

Like any good manager Simpson also remarked that he was slightly annoyed that his players didn’t play to their full potential.

“I was disappointed a wee bit, because we lacked a wee bit of quality, which we have had in previous games,” he added.

“I told the players after the game on Friday that they should be proud to be involved in an occasions like the ’Stute game, we had good support and we were never out of the game, in fact right at the death we had a wee chance when the ball was scrambling about in the box.

“But we need to come back into training this week and prepare exactly the same for this weekend’s game against sdfkjhsdkh.

“We can’t take any negatives stuff into Saturday’s game from the ’Stute game, because we came up against a top Championship One side and I think everybody who was at the match, will say we gave them a good game.”

The former Lincoln Courts midfielder also felt ’Stute’s ‘street wise’ knowledge in the end was the difference between the sides.

“I think in the final 20 minutes both sets of players were starting to feel it, because of the pace of the game and to be honest maybe it was a little bit of craftiness, the ’Stute players were a wee bit more tutored.

“You could see right at the end we had two glorious chances to take the game to extra-time, but as I said I’m proud of my players and I would like to take this opportunity and wish ’Stute all the best for the next round.”
