Magherafelt were playing their first game of the season but any thought that they were to be slow starters was short lived.

City looked likely to score the opening goal but were to be caught in a swift counter attack. Magherafelt broke and worked the ball well into the box and with their first shot of the game, fired home leaving keeper Shane Wallace no chance.
The home side got back on level terms when the tenacious Oran McGill created space for himself and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Magherafelt went back in front from the penalty spot just before the break when Pearse McLarnon coolly slotted the ball past Shane Wallace.

City continued to press for an equaliser and it fell to captain Ian Maxwell to provide it.

Having been denied in the first half, the midfielder again tried his luck from 25 yards and this time it flew into the net.

The visitors went back in front for a third time when the Magherafelt forward fired home from six yards.

To their credit City, who haven’t tasted defeat this season, bounced back and levelled again.

Jamie Burke did well on the right and delivered an excellent cross into the box where the ever alert Jack Doherty drilled the ball home.
