Six of the best for the Colts

The Causeway Colts took on Ballymoney on Saturday and were on the attack from the whistle creating several chances in as many minutes.

The opening goal finally came on 20 minutes, Jack Shaw’s free kick over the top found Brandon Warke who applied a tidy finish. The Colts spurned further chances and they were pegged back when Ballymoney scored the equaliser from a well taken free kick which gave keeper Adam Hopkins no chance. The Colts bounced straight back when Jack Shaw hit a super chipped ball to Joe McClements who made no mistake to regain the lead. The first half ended on a bad note when Adam Black was forced off after a heavy challenge, Ewan McFall moved to centre back with Rhyss Ewings coming on

Ballymoney kicked off the second half as they looked to get back into the game but the Colts extended their advantage with a penalty from Jack Shaw. The Colts were on the front foot now and could sense there was more goals in this game for them. Dan Mairs eased a volley just past the post from a Jack Shaw corner quickly followed by captain Josh McConnell who shot just wide. Jack Shaw grabbed his second and the Colts fourth after cutting in from the left and firing a stunning finish in the roof of the net. Brandon Warke added a fifth before Jack Shaw rounded off a fine display grabbing his hat-trick when he broke into the box and slotted home at the near post to make it 6-1.
