Sky Blues prepare for new season with AGM

All current committee members are welcome along with current supporters and parents who are interested in getting involved.

The club are in the final stages of securing funding to ensure permanent changing rooms are built at Spires Park. This is an exciting project for the club and is one of the final projects the club committee have planned for Spires.

Over the last eight years Spires Park has become a key part in the development of the club. It has enabled the Blues to develop many new players.

They have another big season planned ahead with two senior teams and seven youth teams planning for the 2014/15 season. All current managers and coaches must be in attendance.

A decision about club wear and kits for the forthcoming season will be taken.

As the largest club in South Derry, with football provided for all ages, Magherafelt Sky Blues continues to set the pace in terms of excellence.

The cross community club are about to enter their 44th season and remain at the forefront of local football.

The Magherafelt Sky Blues Ground Development Lotto will continue next weekend. No one matched the correct numbers last week. Club Lotto draw. The £25 lucky Dip winner was S Fullen.

Magherafelt Sky Blues Mini-Soccer Centre, sponsored by Ronan Valley, continues on Saturday outdoors at the Meadowbank Sports Arena 3G pitch from 9am to 10am. The cost is £2 per child. Wear trainers/ boots/ mouldies or blades.

Magherafelt Sky Blues aim to field seven youth teams, the most the club have ever fielded in one season, a senior first team and new U21/Reserve team.

The youth teams will include U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U17 sides. Six of these sides will compete in the NIBFA National Youth League, the highest youth league in NI.

Robert said the senior players have an exciting season to look forward too with Seamus Quinn and Steven Hawe working together to manage and coach the first team.

Also the new U21/Reserve will provide an avenue for the youth players to begin plying their trade at senior level.
