Slane kids lose out to Kilowen

MONEYSLANE U12s played Killowen on Saturday sporting their new blue and white kits sponsored by Supervalu.

An experimental side with five girls and five boys filled the names on team sheet as manager Wayne Davis slots players into different position.

Both teams started brightly and had chances in the opening 10 minutes, best for Slane was Sophie Megaw who’s shot from edge of the box was tipped wide by the keeper.

Killowen took the lead when a shot was well saved by Euan Richie in nets but the ball came off the post with the striker there to tap in.

They then went two up after a break from defence caught Slane flat footed and once again Richie saved well only the see the rebound tapped in once again.

Slane pushed on and got back into the game after some nice play when Moorhead found Malcolmson and he played it to Davis who spotted the keeper off his line and his thunderous shot from the halfway line found the top corner.

Second half Slane went looking for the equalizer and efforts from Megaw and Moorhead were well saved.
