SLIDESHOW: Rain no pain for mini soccer kids

Six teams beat the inclement weather to play the P4 section of the Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League on Saturday on the 3g surface at Ballymena Showgrounds.

Two teams apiece representing Carniny Youth, Northend United Youth and Ballymena United battled through the horrendous conditions.

An enjoyable day was had by all as each team played out five small sided games and at the conclusion of the day every competitor received a medal for taking part from Ballymena United goalkeeper Macauley Cairns who himself had played in the mini soccer league for Carniny as well as Northend and BUFC Youth Academy in youth football.

Each team also received a match ball from IFA Development Officer, Wes Gregg who was on hand to help organise and set up the event.

This Saturday 14th June will see the P5 children take part and all teams are reminded to pay attention to the league website for instructions before they can participate.

* Youngsters are being given the opportunity to design a logo for the Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League.

The winning design will receive a prize and have their work on league materials. Entrants should send their artwork/ideas on paper to: Secretary, Ballymena Invitational Mini Soccer League, Ballymena Showgrounds, Warden Street, Ballymena.
