SML round-up: Homers into Junior Shield semi-finals

HARRYVILLE Homers won the all-Ballymena Saturday Morning League clash to move into the semi-finals of the Paddy Power County Antrim Junior Shield.

Homers beat Randalstown Sky Blues 3-1 in their quarter-final tie, to reach the last four for the second time in three seasons.

They could yet be joined in the semis by great rivals Carniny Rangers, who will face Castlewellan Town at the quarter-final stage this weekend after thrashing Greenwell Star 8-0 in a delayed fifth round tie.

Closer to home, there was action in five different competitions on Saturday, with top-flight leaders All Saints Old Boys taking advantage of both Carniny and Homers’ Shield participation, to stretch their advantage at the top of the Tower Blinds-sponsored Division One table to 15 points, although they have played several more games than their fellow challengers.
