SML round-up: Sky Blues into last eight of Junior Shield

RANDALSTOWN Sky Blues are the first Tower Blinds Ballymena Saturday Morning League club to guarantee their place in the last eight of this season’s Paddy Power County Antrim Junior Shield.

The Neillsbrook side beat Greencastle Rovers 3-1 on Saturday to set up a potential last eight clash with fellow SML side Harryville Homers, who will make a second attempt to play their last 16 clash at Killough this Saturday after the weather put paid to Saturday’s scheduled tie.

Carniny Rangers had the disappointment of travelling to Newtownards only for the game to be called of 15 minutes before the game by the referee. They will have to travel again on 11th February to play Greenwell Star.

But it was the end of the road in the Junior Shield for Shore Wanderers, who travelled to Castlewellan but went down 3-1.

Back in the league, All Saints Old Boys took advantage of their title rivals’ inactivity to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 10 points with a 1-0 win over Westend Athletic.
