SML round-up: Trio’s Junior Shield adventure continues

THE traditional ‘big guns’ of the Ballymena Saturday Morning League might not be present, but the remaining representatives in the County Antrim Junior Shield continue to do the league proud.

All Saints Old Boys, Clough Rangers and Carnlough Swifts entered unchartered territory on Saturday by reaching the last 16 of the prestigious competition.

And they could yet be joined by a fourth team, if North End Shamrocks can see off Ballynagross FC in their fourth round tie which has been rearranged for this Saturday after being postponed last weekend.

Saints were aided by an Aaron Wilkinson hat-trick, dispatched crack Newcastle League side Killough, while Jonathan McCloy matched that individual feat for Clough came from two down to beat Ballymoney side Riada in extra-time.

Domestically, Harryville Homers reached their second knockout final of the season when they beat Ahoghil Rovers in the semi-final of the County Antrim Post O’Kane Cup.

The league is now in its winter break until early January.
