Southside run league leaders Carrick close

SOUTHSIDE Youths welcomed league leaders Carrick Rangers to the Showgrounds on Saturday and it was the visitors who came out on top 3-1.

As usual it was Southside who started on the front foot mounting attack after attack but they just could not find a way through.

Carrick scored against the run of play but Southside kept piling on the pressure until half time with good efforts from Bonnes, Balmer, Jackson, Graham, McDowell and Corrigan.

The second half was only a minute old when Southside conceded a second which ended up being a own goal.

The home side created lots of chance,s but the Carrick keeper was having a super game saving everything that was thrown at him.

After Carrick got their third Aaron Weir pulled one back but it turned out to be only a consolation goal.

Although beaten Southside gave the leaders a really tough game and they can all be proud of the effort they put in as the Carrick goalkeeper was named man of the match by the Referee.
