Springwell runner Denton races to new PB

The Spar Omagh Half Marathon on Saturday attracted a field of almost 1400 runners among them eight members of Springwell Running Club. Conditions were perfect for running cloudy sky and a cool breeze.

Sergui Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers led the field home in 1:04:48 with Donna Evans leading the ladies home in 1:23:41.

Chris Denton was the first Springwell Runner home in a PB time of 1:20:03 followed by Jim Breen 1:26:11 (1st MO55), Alistair Shaw 1:26:34 (PB), Gerard Mullan 1:28:36, Tommy Bradley 1:31:49, Nicola Frizelle 1:46:13, Althea Clarkson 1:51:37 and Richard Brown 1:59:05 (PB).

Springwell Runners were among the prizes at Limavady Sports Awards on Friday evening. Sally Brown won the Female Youth Award and was runner up in the Senior Female Award. Peter Jack’ Indoor Ironman picked up the Event of the Year Award (152 lengths of 25 metre pool, 180K on gym bike and 42K on the treadmill). Drumachose PS Girls Cross Country Team winners of the Springwell Cup the last two years were runners up in the Youth Team Award. Aoife McSheffrey was nominated for the Female Youth Award. Congratulations to all these athletes who have performed well over the last 12 months.
