Stability priority for boss Hamilton

Stability at Glenavon is a key factor for manager Gary Hamilton as he secured new deals with Eoin Bradley and Jonny Tuffey at the weekend.

Both players expressed their delight and desire to remain at Mourneview Park, the ‘family feeling’ at the club one of the motivating factors.

“Both Eoin and Jonny have earned their new deals and it is crucial to maintain the stability of the club when appropriate,” said Hamilton.

“It says a lot when they want to stay here. We try to do things right and all of the players are well looked after both on and off the pitch.

“I have no doubt that helps when we go to sign players. They know they are coming to a good club.

“It isn’t always about money. It is about enjoying playing football.

“We still have to talk to a few more players, but because of age some will have to wait until the end of the season.”

The Lurgan Blues return to Stangmore Park for the second time this week on Saturday having played there on Tuesday night in the Mid Ulster Cup semi-final.

“It is another chance for us to pick up some points,” added the Glenavon boss.

“This week is a different and perhaps more difficult challenge. We were not expected to beat Cliftonville last week but we will go into the game on Saturday expected to win. That makes it tougher, but the players have the ability to come out on top if they keep up their performance levels.

“Dungannon always give us a tough game and Andy Mitchell is banging in the goals for them at the minute, so we know it will be another battle on Saturday.”

Kick-off is 3.00pm.
